Richard M. Sanders is a Senior Fellow, Western Hemisphere, at the Center for the National Interest in Washington D.C. He is a former member of the Senior Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State, and he served in embassies throughout Latin America as well as in Spain and Canada. His Washington assignments include service as Director of the State Department’s Office of Brazilian and Southern Cone Affairs, 2010-13.
